THE RECORD SHOWS

ProPublica documented more than 500 reported detentions of U.S. citizens by federal immigration agents from January 2025 through September 2026.

ProPublica assembled incidents from public records, reporting, and video; its count is not an official government tally. PBS NewsHour interviewed its investigators on October 21. The cases include citizens taken in immigration operations and people arrested around protests or encounters with agents.
